The objectives of this workshop are to:
- Understand the strategic importance of sustainability and the consequences of action / inaction
- Integrate sustainability into risk management processes
- Align sustainability with business goals
- Explore governance best practices for sustainability
- Foster leadership in sustainability
- Translate sustainability ambitions into organizational design and culture
Programme
INTRODUCTION (30 min)
- Gathering participants’ expectations and mindset using an interactive tool
- Presentation of the programme
- Individual “Insights Log” journal to record personal learning and individual/collective actions to be shared with the team at the end of the workshop

AWARENESS & INSPIRATION – The Why (2h)
ACTIVITY
- Recap on sustainability benefits
- Group discussion: value creation through sustainability at your company
- Condensed “Climate Fresk”
OUTCOME
- Participants gain a holistic understanding of sustainability issues, develop a sense of urgency, and are motivated to engage collaboratively.
- Participants are convinced of the short- and long-term benefits for the company to engage in a Sustainability journey, with a specific focus on governance issues.
RISK MANAGEMENT & SCENARIO PLANNING – How do you integrate ESG risks in your risk management system (2h)
ACTIVITY: Scenario Planning
- Participants are split in 2 groups and explore 2 future scenarios involving varying levels of fluctuations in the ecosystem, in environmental regulation and societal pressure and their impact on the whole supply chain.
- Team discusses how these scenarios would affect the company’s risk profile and adapt strategies accordingly.
- Discussion: risk integration into core decision-making processes.
OUTCOME
- Participants have identified and assessed main sustainability-related risks. They have prioritized these factors in strategic decision-making to mitigate risks.

This session focuses on integrating sustainability into governance framework.
ACTIVITY
- Case Study Analysis:
- 2 sub-groups analyze 2 real-world examples of companies that successfully (or unsuccessfully) integrated sustainability into governance.
- Findings and recommendations are shared in plenary to foster discussion.
- Governance Structure Design:
- Teams design a governance structure for your company, outlining roles, responsibilities, change in existing processes and reporting mechanisms
OUTCOME
- Leaders understand governance best practices and their critical role in driving sustainability. Area for improvement are identified
CULTURE & LEADERSHIP – The people (1h)
Given your sustainability ambition and the changing environment, is your leadership style future proof? This session focuses on defining leadership roles and styles in a VUCA environment and change management
ACTIVITY: Leadership Role-Playing navigating real-world ESG dilemmas
- Participants navigate realistic and tailor made challenging scenarios, such as balancing short-term financial goals with long-term sustainability objectives (supplier decision dilemma, transparency vs brand risk, …)
- Practical brainstorming on change management and engagement (supply chain, board, …) to overcome resistance, align stakeholders’ interests, and foster collaboration.
OUTCOME
- Participants align on strategies to build momentum for change and drive sustainability within and beyond the organization’s boundaries. Barriers and enablers to change are identified.
